Uptycs began with a conversation among our founders about a problem that still defines cybersecurity: fragmentation. Security teams run growing numbers of point solutions, each collecting its own data, using its own interface, and solving only part of the problem.
Rather than add another silo, they built an open foundation where security data is collected consistently, queried easily, and used to answer many different questions. Osquery, the open source endpoint telemetry framework, was the starting point. Uptycs built on it to make system data queryable through SQL at enterprise scale.
That foundation is what everything else runs on.

“What bothered me when we started Uptycs was how much of security had become a collection of black boxes. Every tool had its own agent, its own data, its own view of the world, and customers were expected to trust whatever answer came out. We believed the industry had it backwards. Start with open, high-quality data, make it easy to query and connect, and you can answer most security questions from the same foundation. That matters more now than it ever has. AI can only reason as well as the data underneath it, and it should be able to show you exactly how it got there.”
The people leading Uptycs today bring our founding vision forward across technology, customer experience, operations, and growth.

Attackers now move from initial access to lateral movement in seconds, and the AI meant to help is usually a black box you can't check. Both problems come back to the same thing: the quality of the data underneath, and whether you can see how an answer was reached.
That's what we build for. Better security data, open and queryable, with the evidence behind every finding.
